Stokers Halt

The old Point bar has finally been revamped and turned round  from a tired and faded drinking hole, into a stylish new chic gastropub, befitting of the cool Ballyhackamore area.  With an emphasis on good food and an aim to bring in a new type of clientele, Stokers Halt  seems to be meeting what it has set out to achieve.

The old Point layout has been totally changed, with the bar now at the far end of the ground floor….opening up a lot of space, into which tables and chairs with a ‘shabby chic’ feel,  are casually laid out.

The old sports bar feel is gone, however Stokers Halt hopes to attract more of the rugby crowd…with games being shown on the large TVs in the bar. Upstairs there is an innovative  bench  for visitors to drink coffee, work on their laptops and  enjoy watching the village through the expansive window which overlooks Ballyhackamore .

Considerable expense has gone into turning this new pub into something far removed from the old tired Point bar.  Drop in for a cup of coffee at  11am or bring the family for a meal in the upstairs bar –  all the things that perhaps the old place didn’t offer so well. Stokers Halt is aiming high and by all accounts seems to be on the right track  with its new look and feel.
